Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The trees are changing colors, the temperature is getting colder and more cool, and the fun family holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving are occurring. While this is an extremely great time for people, dogs as well can enjoy the season through a variety of fun and exciting activities. In this blog post we wanted to go over the 3 of our favorite activities to do with our dog during this joyful season.
Fall is one of the best times for you and your dog to get out and explore. The air is clean and crisp, the temperature isn’t too hot or cold, and the trees are engulfed in yellow, red, and orange colors. Hiking is a fun activity that can range in difficulty depending on how you and your dog are feeling. From hiking in the mountains to taking a stroll through a wooded park, there are a variety of options to get you and your dog outside and exercising. Your little buddy will be able to enjoy nature and all of the smells that nature brings.
If you have a young healthy dog, a longer hike is a great choice, but make sure to bring plenty of water for both of you. If your dog is older, keep the hike a bit shorter and easier so they don’t get uncomfortable. No matter the dog, though, they will love to be out and walking, smelling everything they can.
It is important to keep in mind that you bring enough supplies and water for both you and your dog just in case. Also, it is important to keep your dog on a leash while exploring the woods as your dog may get distracted by something in the woods and run away from you. As well, it’s important to always keep an eye on your dog in this type of environment so putting on a reflective collar can help you distinguish where your little buddy is if the sun is starting to go down.
Taking your dog to a pumpkin patch allows you both to get outside and get a bit of exercise. Pumpkin patches also are a great location to get photos of your dog. A thing to note is that you will want to make sure that the farm or patch you are taking your little buddy too is pet friendly. Typically though, most of these locations will have no problem with a dog accompanying you but it is good to ensure this before attempting to go. Pumpkin picking is a great activity overall for you and your dog to enjoy the weather, find the perfect pumpkin and enjoy having fun with each other in a memorable environment.
Halloween brings joy to everyone who participates in the activities. It is only natural that you would want to include your dog in the festivities this year! Dress your dog up as your favorite character from your favorite movie, or come up with your own costume idea, the possibilities are endless! Kids and other families who are trick or treating will get a kick from seeing you and your dog both in outfits strolling the streets.
